This Waiver and Release of Liability applies to participation in Dagorhir-sponsored activities, events, tournaments, contests, or meetings.

By participating, you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, do not participate. Minors may participate only with the agreement of a parent or legal guardian, which must be notarized.

1. Organization

Permission to participate is granted by Dagorhir Battle Games Association Inc. (“Dagorhir”).

This waiver is given in consideration of that permission.

The release in section 4 covers Dagorhir, its members, participants, observers, officers, officials, owners and/or administrators of land upon which the event or activity is held, and anyone administering emergency medical assistance.

2. Description of Dagorhir

Dagorhir combines fast-paced full-contact combat simulation with elements of live action role-playing.

Combat in group melees or between individuals is similar to the battle scenes in movies like Braveheart and Gladiator, with the biggest difference being that Dagorhir “weapons” are well padded to prevent injuries.

Dagorhir weapons are constructed to resemble Dark Age/medieval swords, shields, spears, and similar arms, and generally consist of soft foam layers bonded to a rigid core.

Combatants may also become involved in grappling/wrestling.

Dagorhir rules of combat are strictly enforced by the Heralds (referees) to ensure maximum safety along with maximum playability.

3. Risk of Injury

As with any outdoor, intense contact sport, the possibility for injury exists.

The types and likelihood of injury are similar to those in soccer, rugby, and lacrosse and, as in those sports, severe injuries can occur.

You are aware of the risks and hazards inherent in participating in any Dagorhir activity, event, tournament, contest, or meeting.

You elect voluntarily to participate, knowing that participation involves significant physical contact by others to your person and that such participation may entail a risk of injury.

4. Waiver and Release

In consideration of receiving permission from Dagorhir Battle Games Association Inc. to participate, you assume full responsibility for any bodily injury and/or property damage arising out of or related to your attendance and/or participation.

You fully release Dagorhir, its members, participants, observers, officers, officials, owners and/or administrators of land upon which the event or activity is being held, and/or anyone administering emergency medical assistance from liability to yourself, your assigns, heirs, and next of kin for any injury to yourself or damage to your property arising out of your attending or participating in a Dagorhir event or activity.

5. Unsafe Conditions

If you feel unsafe, separate yourself from the situation and cease participation. Yelling aloud “Dead!” or “Down!” so all those near you can hear will ensure the swiftest end of your participation.

Report any unsafe conditions or behavior that fall outside the games rules (ie. illegal activity) to event staff.

6. Acknowledgments

By agreeing to this waiver, you acknowledge and represent:

  • That you have read this release, understand it, and agree to it voluntarily.

  • That you are over 18 years of age and of sound mind, or that a parent or legal guardian with legal capacity is agreeing on your behalf.

  • That, if you intend to participate in Dagorhir activities, you have no known physical or mental defects that would increase the likelihood of serious injury from such participation.

  • That, if a parent or legal guardian is agreeing on behalf of a minor participant, that person has the legal capacity to do so.

7. Minors

A participant under 18 years of age must have the notarized agreement of a parent or legal guardian.

If the participant is a minor, an adult may serve as a point of contact regarding issues that may arise between the event organizers and the minor.

That listed adult accepts no responsibility, liability, or accountability for the minor.
