What we call practice is essentially a group get together that runs on a regular schedule.   It’s a great opportunity for those new to Dagorhir to come out and give it a try. For the more experienced members we use it as a chance to hone our skills, talk about equipment tech, garb, role play ideas, etc.

Valinor practices are currently held on a weekly basis, with minor variation due to weather and or events that take place on or close to the days we normally practice.

Although Valinor encompasses a large area of Southeast Texas our current practice locations reside in the Houston area. As Valinor grows and other units join the chapter so will the practice locations. One of our goals as a Dagorhir chapter is to provide the Dagorhir community in Southeast Texas with different time and location options to make attending a practice easier. This will not happen overnight, but we will not stop building up our ranks and bringing Dagorhir to masses!

Practice Q & A

Here are some of the questions we get often regarding Dagorhir and practice.

  • Is there anything I need to do before I can participate?

Yes, you need to fill out a waiver. This can be found in the bottom left corner of this website, look for the "SIGN OUR WAIVER" link.

  • Will there still be practice if its raining?

Depending on location practice may or may not be canceled due to inclement weather. Your best bet is to check our Facebook Group ( for any last minute updates.

  • Do I need to wear medieval garb?

On Wednesday garb is NOT required and most of us show up in jeans or whatever we are comfortable fighting in. On Sundays garb is required unless you are new to Dagorhir, we give new players about a month to get up to garb standards. Plenty of other players will be happy to help you get garb.

  • Do I need my own equipment ( foam weapons, etc. ) ?

We have loaner weapons and shields available for new players for the first month, after that its time to get your own gear. When that times comes there are plenty of member who would be more than happy to help you get geared up.

  • Do I need protective gear, like knee pads?

Some members do like to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as knees pads, sports cup, padded gloves, etc. On Wednesday there is no limitation to the PPE you can wear becasue it is not a garbed practice. On Sundays because it is a garbed practice all PPE must confirm to garb standards. Meaning, gloves must not be bright colors or have logos, knee pads should be worn underneath garb pants or the like. The idea is to look as medieval as possible.
